Welcome to CAFE!
CAFE (Coalition for Attainable Financial Education) envisions communities where all people can achieve financial stability. Our mission is to improve access to financial education and resources in north and east King County.
In 2012, CAFE is targeting participation in Money Smart Week for the second year. CAFE partners are kicking up workshop ideas and the planning is beginning to roll. In addition, volunteer financial coaching is on the radar screen and CAFE members are invited to get in on the ground floor of imagining community-designed coaching standards, training and monitoring methods.
2011 was eventful. In the first half of the year, CAFE members created a Savings Awareness Video, and sponsored two Money Smart Week Events and a special Advising Day event for Lake Washington Institute of Technology. Then CAFE kicked off the summer by hosting a Save Up, Spend Well, Give Back booth at Redmond Derby Days in July featuring Moon Jars for kids. In early November, CAFE presented two credit workshops, one in Kirkland and one in Fall City. Both events featured a credit presentation, opportunities to pull a credit report from the free site www.annualcreditreport.com and one on one advising with a credit counselor or financial professional.
